The Lucas’ have purchased what is considered to be by many the most magnificent residential estate in Indiana. The property, formerly known as the Hilbert Mansion (also known as Le Chateau Renaissance), sits on 33.6 acres within the City of Carmel, just north of Indianapolis.
The property, originally built by Stephen Hilbert and his wife Tomisue, is reminiscent of a French Country Manor fit for a member of the aristocracy. When asked why he decided to purchase such an estate Forrest Lucas replied, "I believe it is a sound business investment. But more importantly, I consider this property to be a true work of art which should be preserved and shared." Mr. Lucas continued, "This is an asset with enormous potential not only for Lucas Oil but also for the community. I anticipate that this property will be utilized for various business activities as well as community functions. We have not figured it all out yet but we have a talented group of people dedicated to developing a business plan to make the best use of this investment."
Forrest and Charlotte Lucas were both born and raised in Indiana with many of their children and grandchildren still residing within the state. When asked if the property will be utilized as a residence Charlotte Lucas replied, "I really don’t know right now; however, I see this as the perfect site for occasional fund raisers and benefits. The property is so amazingly beautiful, with plenty of room to accommodate just about anything".
